Environment

Gray & Oscar has a wide range of expertise in a number of environmental issues, including: Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO's); Non-Point Source Regulations; Coarse Particulate Matter (dust); Greenhouse Gases; Pesticide Permitting; Superfund Requirements; and The Clean Air and Clean Water Acts. Our overall understanding of the legislative and regulatory framework of future environmental actions gives our firm the ability to advise clients on the legislative provisions of pending bills in Congress and the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) future regulatory plans.

Farm Policy

Our firm has been closely involved in U.S. farm bills for the past 25 years, and will remain engaged in the intricate legislative processes of the upcoming 2012 Farm Bill.

Health Care

Gray & Oscar maintains a strong portfolio of clients and advocacy issues within the health care industry. We currently work with a health care client in championing proposed legislation for a Safe Patient Handling Initiative with the Department of Veteran Affairs, as well as assisting them in obtaining funding for their research with the National Institutes of Health and CURES Program. We also represent clients in matters related to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the implementation of the recently passed healthcare law.

Our firm remains committed to our clients in their efforts to boost the economy through improved infrastructure and job creation. Our work within the labor industry has helped maintain and increase urban and agriculture related jobs in the Northeast region. Through our efforts on behalf of our dairy clients, we have obtained funding to sustain 141 dairy processing facilities and their 145,000 employees. We are also working with our health care and labor clients to gain financial support for new and emerging jobs.

Renewable Energy

At Gray & Oscar we advise our clients on the incentives of the Renewable Energy Tax Credits, through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, for solar and wind energy production. We have also been involved in the development of the Northeast Energy and Environmental Dairy systems (NEEDS) program, which represents a combined effort by the Northeast region’s five major dairy cooperatives, the State Departments of Agriculture, the Land Grant universities and colleges, and environmental and conservation organizations.

Gray & Oscar works closely with the Northeastern farming industry in tracking and monitoring legislation for future development opportunities such as federal livestock and crop insurance programs, conservation programs, and the promotion of rural infrastructure.

In anticipation of the next Highway Funding Bill, we are collaborating with several clients on the shape of the legislation. From drafting proposals regarding weight limitations for truck hauling on interstate highways to acquiring transportation infrastructure funding, Gray & Oscar will be intimately involved in the process.
